Product Development Engineer -- Experienced

Qualities of all experienced engineering candidates:

  • Has worked in engineering for 5-10 years
  • Wants to develop products “cradle to grave”
  • Develops product requirement specifications
  • Manages projects well

  • Fully understands product applications first hand
    • Works with field techs via jobsite visits and collaborates closely with sales/marketing
  • Has a natural curiosity to learn and explore/adopt new technologies
  • Has a strong desire to research and solve problems
  • Has a high level of creativity
  • Proficient and utilizes a root cause analysis approach
  • Has a strong ability to model the technology being considered in a product
  • Employs a comprehensive, methodical approach to evaluating and deciding on technology blocks
  • Utilizes a results-oriented approach to product development

Duties the engineer will perform:

  • Find and fix problems with existing products
  • Conduct market research as necessary for product development
  • Be the expert in technologies employed in products
  • Develop new products with support from our suppliers
  • Be a strong project manager for whole product development process

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSME, BSEE or other technical degree
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Basic understanding of heat transfer, materials and measurement systems (system dynamics)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel occasionally, within and outside of United States

Additional qualities desired:

  • Education in physics
  • Knowledge of psychometrics and thermodynamics
  • Formal training in root cause analysis
  • Experience working with international suppliers
  • Working knowledge of value engineering
  • Functional knowledge of Solidworks
  • Prior work experience in a relevant field, industry or capacity
  • Exposure to a variety of manufacturing challenges
  • Experience designing and building test fixtures
  • Experience using RCCA, FMEA, Fault Trees, Ishikawa Fish Bone diagrams
  • Work experience within the HVACR industry
  • Work experience within instrumentation
  • Programming experience
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CS5 or later
  • Ability to weld and do more advanced fabrication (programming controllers)
  • Bilingual (Mandarin preferred)

 

Pay will be commensurate with experience

Duties the new sales position will perform:

  • Directly Contact HVACR contractors to pitch Fieldpiece Job Link System (hardware and software)
  • Organize a list of targets and keep it up to date
  • Travel (Air and Car) 1 to 2 weeks per month
  • Cold call Contractors to get appointments
  • Work with nationwide distribution network to get appointments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Has 2+ years of sales experience
  • Travel savvy

Additional qualities desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of HVACR industry or blue collar field such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical.
